Do I have a likely chance of getting into the University of Texas- Austin?

Question by Kiara B: Do I have a likely chance of getting into the University of Texas- Austin?
I have been reading up on the University of Texas in Austin and it seems to be a good fit for me. I have a 4.41 weighted GPA and a 3.7 unweighted GPA. I got an 1850 an the SATs (or 1300 critical reading and math). I am president of FCCLA, vice president of ecology club, and treasurer/historian of science club. I am in National Honor Society and National French Honor Society. I am in a Math and Science Center program at my school. I also have 200+ hours of community service. Lastly, over the summer I volunteered most of my time at the Capital Area Health Network, a healthcare system in my area. I know it is hard for out-of-state students but I am very interested in this school. I would probably apply for the school of natural sciences. Also, I am African-American.

I don’t think that you will have a problem getting into UT.

In fact, I think you ought to apply to some better schools — particularly private ones. Many of them want to attract qualified African-American students and are willing to give them aid to do that.

You have a real opportunity here — take advantage of it.

I understand about how most of the school is from Texas, which is the reason I am asking the question. Do you think, after they admit all of the students from Texas, do I have a chance as an out-of-stater?

I plan to make a day of exploring the destinations of Cleveland. So far I have decided to visit the Great Lakes Science Center, the Museum of Natural History, and the Auto and Aviation museum. I don’t want to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Links to the website if possible.

I think that you are qualified for the program and if that’s really where you want to go you should apply. If I were you I would find out who is in charge and contact them and ask them questions about the program and let them know what your concern are usually they can be really helpful in giving advice about getting in to the program.

The zoo in Greensboro or Ashboro… I can’t remember, (NC Zoological Park) has lots of shade. It shouldn’t be too hot.

You could also head downtown for the Greensboro Cultural Center at Festival Park. They have everything there. It should be lots of fun for the kids and you and your husband!

Or

You can go to the Discovery Place in Charlotte, NC. I’m not sure what they have going on this month, but I know they just had something dealing with the human flesh…very neat.

Also, if you never been…you should take them to Carowinds.

Will the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science display more exhibits in the future?

Question by grasshopper_60619: Will the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science display more exhibits in the future?
I enjoy the museum website, but I want the center to display more natural and international items of nature besides local specimens. For instance, they can have exhibits that deal with plants and animals of a tropical rainforest and/or Eastern US region. Also, I would like for the museum to have some dinosaur skeletons and more prehistoric fossil displays in their collections.
